Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, Keith Moon came together to form The Who back in 1964. Their first single, "I Can't Explain", hit the UK top ten and, from there, they produced a series of chart-topping singles including "Happy Jack” and "Substitute".
They semi-retired from live performances at the end of 1976, and Keith Moon passed away two years later. Moon was then replaced Kenney Jones and the band picked up exactly where they left off before Moon’s passing: performing epic live shows across the world.
Another hiatus followed the group’s split in 1982, and barring occasional live performances for occasions such as Live Aid, the band didn’t properly reunite and resume regular touring until 1999, when drummer Zak Starkey joined the troupe. Today, The Who are still going strong, having in recent years headlined British Summer Time and Glastonbury festivals, and are set to continue wowing fans worldwide for a good while yet.
Daltrey, Townshend and the various other members of The Who have sold over 100 million records worldwide and have rightfully etched a place for themselves in rock music history. Grab some The Who merch today and show your support for these titans of rock ‘n’ roll!
