Article description

What began as a loose concept album with jingles and commercials became one of the most extraordinary albums of every era - it is the last 'pop' album by The Who.

The iconic cover design was created by David King and Roger Law, portraying a bold image of the time. In sum, it is a glorious mixture of classic, powerful Who instrumentation, melodic harmonies, and satirical lyrical imagery that has crystallized for the group's third album - an almost unparalleled ambition and scope at that time. With classics like 'I Can See for Miles.'

'We had hoped to get free Jaguars. We got fifty cans of free baked beans.'

'The Who Sell Out' is released as a Super-Deluxe Edition, 2LP, and 2CD.

The Super-Deluxe Edition comes with 5 CDs and a bonus 7'. The box contains a total of 112 tracks, many of which are unreleased. Also included is an 80-page hard-back full-color book with rare photos, track annotations, and new liner notes by Pete Townshend, as well as comments from, for example, Pete Drummond (Radio Caroline DJ), Chris Huston (Talentmasters Studio), and Richard Evans (designer). Additionally, the box comes with 9 posters, various inserts, and multiple replicas.

The 2LP versions include some highlights from the box set in addition to the original album.

The 2CD version includes a 16-page booklet.
