by Markus Eck (27.04.2009) Finally, the Ripper presents us with his terrific Metal voice on a solo album - after his stints with Winters Bane, Judas Priest, Yngwie Malmsteen, or Iced Eearth. The title "Play my game" , though, is a bit of his credo: in spite of countless extremely famous guest musicians, Owens doesn't get dizzy and leads on. It would take me pages to write down the spectacular guest list - suffice to say it's endless... Musicians and ex-musicians of bands such as Dio, Whitesnake, Kiss, Queensryche, Megadeth, Nevermore - they all get their moments on this. The twelve modern powerful US Metal songs have been composed mostly by the Ripper himself, but he has an equally impressive list of supporting composers, featuring greats like Bob Kulick, Chris Caffery, Mike Callahan, and John Comprix. It must have been a logistical feat simply to contact all these people - and then, you had to put all those performances into one pot and stir very carefully... But at last , it has paid of: a yummy mixture, this!
