by Andreas Reissnauer (10/00) A good two and a half years after the last album "Cruelty and the beast" finally we have the fourth album of Cradle of Filth here. The last year's EP "From cradle to enslave" wasn't but a small appetiser for this album that you can easily call the matured and best one of the English guys. Productionwise they could improve, especially the guitars sound more violent than before and the drums hammer harder than in the past. This increase of heaviness has improved the songs, too. Variable and experienced like ever, Cradle of Filth combine epic elements and harmonic keyboard melodies with angry riffs and scream-vocals of Dani's. Not to mention that this man rages in all scales, that's nothing new. The mixture is right and underpins the band's status to be the world's best Black Metal band. These compository, creative and production-wise high standards were translated perfectly and should be heard by you!
