by Matthias Mineur (03/10) Dez Fafara didn't promise too much. Devildriver's heavy, heavy metal makes your blood freeze in your veins. The rather atmospheric days of Coal Chamber have definitely gone by. The future is dominated by heavy-as-steel guitar riffs, blasting drums and vocal noises from the deepest throats. "I Dreamed I Died" sings Fafara about his apokalyptic dreams and feels "Knee Deep" in the morass of the society and its excesses. He sees himself as the traditional blues-storyteller. Like their stories also Fafara's lyrics tell about the problems of life, about exasperation, anger and trouble. For this matter, Devildriver chose a sound that is dynamic and merciless. No rest allowed, if you listen to "Devildriver" you are being caught by the sheer aggression of the 12 tracks for over 40 minutes.
