by Oliver Kube (02.10.2008) In early summer 2008, front man Vincent Bennett announced that the coming fourth longplayer would be the so far darkest opus of this Death/Metalcore quartet. Well, the boys from that tiny town Chicopee/Massachusetts never have been a token for happy-go-lucky party fun anyway, but what he said was right. Brutal juggernauts like "Seaward" or "Dr. Doom" are flawless Death Metal, intense, energy-laden and skilfully played - unfortunately becoming a bit monotonous after a while. But there are also some highlights: "JFC" with its exciting breaks, "Kraken", dominated by a cool bass and spacy guitars, and the epic instrumental "The behemoth", for example. With these numbers, the boys set themselves apart from that impressive but nevertheless not too versatile steamrollering on the remaining tracks of the album, and you wish that this gifted band would deliver a few more of that calibre.
