Article description

Latin-Metalheads present their melodic debut album. Partly Spanish texts and flamenco-inspired passages give the power-tracks southern flair - the six canΒ΄t avoid the comparison to Sepultura and Soulfly.

How Can I Live (Spanish Version)

With a new line-up and more melodies the Ill Nino present their "Latino Metal" on their second album. While the Spanish lyrics were reduced, it's now rather up to some musical elements to bring in the Latin American culture, such as the short, Flamenco-inspired passages in "This Time's For Real" or "All The Right Words", adding atmosphere to the songs. They create a kind of "crossover feeling" like in Soulfly or Sepultura. The melodies are enormously catchy ("Te Amo... I Hate You" and "Letting Go" are but two examples), yet they are being presented with so much power ("Lifeless... Life", "Cleansing"), that the comparison to the legendary, notorious weather-phenomenon of the same name seems quite appropriate. But also some quiet moments occur: the slow "Have You Ever Felt?" with its power metal references causes some shivers down the spine. With this album, Ill Nino could soon belong to the big ones on the top. (Sonja Angerer - 03/10)
