A good song is a good song. It must work in any form it is placed in - from inflated stadium rock to the most intimate acoustic setting. The Swedish dark symphonic metal sensations ELEINE have internalized this little wisdom and firmly anchored it in their artistic integrity. The effortless transition between their bombastic side and the deeply captivating acoustic sound of their brand new 8-track EP 'Acoustic in Hell' cannot be explained any other way.
For the first time in their successful career, ELEINE turn off the amplifiers to create a completely new musical experience - not entirely coincidentally just in time for their highly anticipated acoustic Tour with metal veterans Sonata Arctica. 'We've never made acoustic versions of our music, so you could definitely call it a challenge,' says singer Madeleine with a grin. 'The most important thing about these versions was to preserve the essence of metal, to keep the songs authentic and raw. Our music has weight, and you have to be careful that it doesn't sound overproduced and sweet,' adds Rikard.
Recorded within a week in January 2022 at The Panic Room Studio of their good friend Thomas 'Plec' Johansson in Skara, 'Acoustic in Hell' is enhanced by an outstanding performance by Madeleine Liljestam, who recorded her complete vocal tracks in an incredible three hours - or should we say exorcised them? ELEINE may have left their distorted guitars, symphonic grandeur, and thundering drums in the antechamber on this album. Even more astonishing, however, is that they have managed to create a completely new acoustic sound world while staying true to their original dark symphonic metal, which thousands more will fall in love with in the coming years. This star is just beginning to rise.
