Fell apart in under 6 weeks!
I purchased these on the 17th July 2016. At first I was really happy with them. They are opaque, comfortable and an awesome design. I was really happy that I finally had a pair of leggings that weren't see-through and could be worn like trousers!
However within 6 weeks they have faded and begun to fall apart. After only wearing them a few times for lounging around the house, a line of holes has appeared along the seam of the bum area. In addition the skulls on the bum and knee areas have worn away, turning from black to faded light greyish/brownish colour. Poor quality. Very disappointing. :(. Never have I had an item of clothing wear out so quickly! Especially with so little wear/activity. They're no good now for anything but the bin. Total waste of money.
They were very hot to wear, perhaps because of the velvet skulls. The velvet also attracts a lot of lint.
The sizing was not great. I'm normally an 8-10 on bottom. I found the S to be too tight around the waist, but the M to be a bit too loose around the waist. The M was comfortable and fit me fine everywhere else though, with the slight looseness not causing any issues, so I stuck with that size (of course if they became looser over time they might have started falling down...had they lasted that long).
I actually only received a medium because I ordered a pair of each colour in size S and a medium was put in a bag marked S. Would have been a happy accident if they hadn't fallen apart on me :(. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this item or the service to anyone.

Too loose :(
This top comes with a warning that due to the burned cotton, if you wear it without washing it first black will get everywhere. They weren't wrong! Obviously as I didn't know if the top was going to fit or if I was going to like it, I couldn't have washed it first as this would mean I couldn't return it. I made sure to save it until last so that I didn't get black on any other items I had to try on. It was a good thing I did! I ended up with a black forehead, forearms and abdomen. I even inhaled some of the burnt material-the tissue was black when I blew my nose! I had to jump in the shower straight away after trying the top on. Since customers need to try this on before washing it, I would have thought EMP would pre-wash this top after burning to save the customer encountering this issue.
The burnout design IS really cool though. I do love the effect, the design and the colours. Unfortunately I'm not keen on the fit. It's very oversized. I normally wear a UK8 in tops so ordered the S. Unfortunately this was enormous and totally unflattering! The raven version of this top is available in an XS, which although loose, is somehwat better as there is still some shape to it, so it looked OK from the front. However, I still found it to be unflattering from the side view and I felt self-conscious that it made me look fat.
I knew the top would be a looser fit, I was hoping that it would still be flattering though so that I could wear it over a plain black technical bamboo Base Layer in winter so as to be warm but maintain my alternative style/taste. (Stylish clothing tends to look good but isn't practical/functional for winter weather. Technical clothing keeps you snuggly warm and comfortable without sweating, but often looks awful!).
I would love to see this exact design in a fitted version of the top and/or in a fitted vest/t-shirt.

Almost great but for a couple of issues
I nornally wear a size 8 in tops, occasionally a 10, so I ordered this in a size S. Unfortunately I found this jacket to be too tight under the arm pits/around the shoulders. It's a frequent issue I encounter, perhaps because I am big busted? (Although I never have problems with tops fitting the chest itself). The body of the jacket was too loose so I couldn't have gone up a size to rectify this issue.
The body wasn't fitted enough for my liking. For a top to flatter me it needs to show off the waist otherwise with my big chest and round face a bulky fit can end up making me look fat.
The jacket is also extremely lightweight, much lighter than your average hoody. It's really only appropriate for summer weather, which then makes the supercool looking scarf/collar a bit of a hinderence.
The jacket is really cool looking, but I need something more fitted and functional.

Great detail but too big
I didn't realise the skulls on this top are semi-sheer. That was a cool detail that I really love. I like the colours too.
Unfortunately I found the smallest size (S) just a bit too big/loose. (I normally wear a UK8 in tops). It's not hugely oversized like some other EMP stuff, it's still fitted, but just a bit too loose. An XS might have solved that, but EMP don't always do that size for some reason :(. I prefer to wear my tops fitted rather than relaxed as I find a relaxed fit doesn't suit a curvaceous figure.
I also wasn't keen on the v-neck. It just didn't suit me. Since it's a normal t-shirt, I would prefer a normal t-shirt collar.
For a size 10 or up this would otherwise make a nice everyday casual tee.

Almost great but for a couple of issues
Simple, sleek and clean design. Light, comfortable and easy to wear. Not too short or too long. Not overly girly or sexual. All features that I look for in a casual everyday summer dress.
It comes in at the waist and looks great from the front. Really flattering. I like the shape at the bottom of the skirt and the design of the straps, these are really nice details that give a plain black dress an alternative twist. I also appreciate that the straps don't require fastening/tying.
The only let down, is from the side view the dress really comes out a long way over the tummy. To skim over the tummy rather than cling is very flattering as it hides any lumps and bumps, but this doesn't skim just above, it really sticks out a long way. Unfortunately, it ends up making your stomach area look like it comes out much further than it actually does, as if you have a pregnant bump under there. It's much like those tops that used to be in fashion around 9 years ago that made every female look like she was 4 months pregnant. While this may not be a problem for some people, it's not something I am comfortable with. The problem is the point at which the skirt begins is far too high. If it were lower so that it started to flare out just below the belly button it would have been far more flattering. It could be that a smaller size would have helped also so that it didn't come out so far, but a size S was the smallest this dress went down to (I'm 5'4" and usually wear an 8-10). The size was otherwise OK.
The other issue of lesser importance is that where I am big chested, the sides of my bra cups were exposed where the material isn't quite wide enough on the chest. Not a big deal if you have a smooth, plain black bra that would blend in with the dress though. Being bigger busted I do not have the option of going braless.
It's a real shame, if it wasn't for the first issue, this dress would have been just what I was looking for. I would really like more alternative dresses that aren't overly girly/teen looking (I've hit my 30s now) or 1950's style (not my taste) to wear on summer days. Preferably also that cover the chest so that it's appropriate for said daytime use.

Shapeless and huge
I love the aesthetic of the batik and the colours of this top, great style. It instantly attracted me.
However even the XS was absolutely enormous on me. I'm 5'4' and normally wear a size 8 in tops, but this one drowned me. It's really wide and has no shape to it at all. The one I received didn't look anything like the way it fits the model in the photo. The one in the photo makes it look as though it curves in at the waist/hips, but the one I got was just a square tent. Very unflattering on an hourglass figure unfortunately. When your're slim, but curvy, you need to define the waist. Anything too loose makes you look bigger than you are (or at least that's what I find).
I'd love to see the batik effect on some fitted tops :).

Rides up
I really like the design of this skirt. It's relatively comfortable and flattering. I prefer softer, stretchy fitted items to anything tight, stiff and constricting like denim. However a wide flat waist panel would be appreciated to smooth out the tummy area.
The skirt is clingy/skin tight and when trying it on and walking across the room, it rode up my legs to nearly crotch height! I wanted something for the summer heat and haven't managed to find appropriate shorts, so decided to give this skirt a try, but as I will not be wearing it with tights, it's no good if I have to constantly pull it down to avoid flashing!
I am a size 8-10 on bottom and ordered the size small. This seemed to be the appropriate size and fitted well.
