A high-quality death of the Florida school
The Ten Commandments. No, not from a bearded Old Testament Jew named Moysha, as you might have thought. And from the quite alive and alive to this day malicious Americans Malevolent Creation led by guitarist Phil Fasciana. The album contains in itself just ten tracks-commandments for death metal. I shall make a reservation at once, by 1991 the Florida death as a style has already been finally formed, one can say, gained its canonical forms. Such fundamental works as "Human", "Blessed Are The Sick", and much more have been published. And "The Ten Commandments" does not add anything new to them. But this does not mean that the debut album Malevolent Creation is boring and monotonous; Rather, on the contrary, "The Ten Commandments" can be called a competent embodiment of these very death canons. In the dry residue on the output we have a double-edged old school in all its glory. On their first release, Malevolent Creation is successfully cut into high-speed, frantic riffs with a strong taste of classic thrash and cacophonic solos in the spirit of the guitar duo King / Hannemann. Vocalist Brett Hoffmann now and again comes in fits of choking malicious barking (he does not really want to sing a full growling), the drummer tries to knock, but you can hear that his experience is not enough. The quality of recording on "The Ten Commandments", of course, is lame. But if you make a discount for the time of release of the album and the fact that for Malevolent Creation this is the first studio work, then we can say that the record is more than acceptable for the old school. As a result: we have a good quality high-quality death of the Florida school without the wisdom and special delights that you can listen to even today with great pleasure. After all, "The Ten Commandments" managed to earn a classical status over the years, and Malevolent Creation gained a worthy place in the ranks of classics and patriarchs of style.

Genius
"The X-Factor" is definitely the best album in the history of Maiden. And it's not about sound, or performance, or anything else. These qualities were always on top. In my opinion, the only epithet suitable for the one-word description of this album may be perhaps one - "Genius".
And here's the point. Those albums that were recognized as living classics and taken for the absolute are the result of a long work and gradual development. Examples - "The Seventh Son", "No prayer ..." and, accordingly, "Fear ...". To write songs from these albums, in which Dickinson developed his singing talent to the maximum, it took nearly six years of hard work. Concerts, countless singles, attempts to experiment. The only thing, I think, on what kept all the so-called. "Golden Era" is a truly unforgettable talent of Harris, who could write alone so deep in melody and content that the opening of their meaning simply did not have the strength or the desire to penetrate the compositions of other authors (the same Bruce, Smith, ). Fortunately, there were not so many of them.

Score - 10 points
Fates Warning contributed to the development of heavy metal music, which can not be overemphasized. And at the same time, they, in fact, inventors of the progressive-metal style, always found themselves in very tight financial conditions. Why it happened can be a long guessing-reasoning. Probably bad luck is guilty. This is their third album, on which they emerged from the shadow of the Iron Maiden giants. Although the influence of the latter here is palpable, on this record the FW has acquired its own, not a face like anyone else. In their music, the forthcoming prog-metal is clearly heard, the structure of the songs is complex, the rhythm often changes in each song. But, first of all, pay attention to MELODY! Listening to "The Sorceress", "Valley Of The Dolls", "Prelude To Ruin", etc. There is an acute need to build a "goat" and shake a hair. Having listened to the disc (I'm sure) a man will play the chorus of many songs from him ("Fata Morgana", 3rd thing on album, for sure) all day. Yes, it's progressive-metal, but first of all it's a double, bright, hairy HMR from the 80's! Such albums (in spirit) for a long time already nobody did. Score - 10 points (was the highest score of 1000-would be 1000).

Bravo, Scorpions! Great work!
In the new millennium Scorpions entered, starting with experiments: after the disc "Moment of Glory" came out, after only a year, an album called "Acoustica" and containing, as the name suggests, acoustic versions of old, time-tested fighters-ballads and covers. What can I say? The album was definitely a success - the old songs sound surprisingly fresh and original, the covers are also clearly beneficial. It is a bit unusual (especially, to hear the accelerated "Holiday" several times), but it is only at first glance - you quickly get used to this atmosphere of the concert, recorded, as it were, only for a narrow circle of friends. Of course, the best thing is to watch this DVD on a live album, than just listen, but the same can be said for any other live album. I am sincerely glad that the "Scorpions" did not stop in their development and continued their experiments - not all groups are good for them, but in this case these same experiments have only a positive connotation with a bold plus. Bravo, Scorpions! Great work! Therefore, such a high score.

Father, why did you leave me?
To begin, perhaps, it is necessary from the cover of the given plate, executed by the well-known artist Trevor Brown, a very talented and versatile schedule, known for works not only with heavy bands, but also with many electronic collectives. The work turned out to be very lively and emotional, and Glen Benton-vocals / bass himself, this bearer of painful visions, was very pleased with Trevor's vision, so clearly portraying his idea. Speaking of the idea. From the point of view of a pro-Christian philistine (I'm not talking about Christians as such), the above-mentioned visual series is an extreme degree of barbaric cruelty, inhumanity and blasphemy. And it is this visualization, as well as songs with the names "Kill The Christian", etc., that prevent many reviewers from objectively assessing not only this album, but all creativity of DEICIDE in general ... As for the musical side, Here the group showed itself at the height. The crazy possession of the release of "Legion" on "Once Upon The Cross" has found a clear form. Now this is a projectile that rushes right into the face of the Christian God! The rhythm section was not as chaotic as before, but more accurate and powerful, thanks to the amazing work of this demonic sticker - Steve Asheim. The guitars of the Hoffman brothers [Eric Hoffman & Brian Hoffman] are quick and technical (there were ...), and Glen's vocals are unique and cruel ... It's worth mentioning the heart-wrenching intro (taken, by the way, from the incomparable film "The Last Temptation of Christ" by genius Martin Scorsese ), At which Jesus in despair exclaims: "Father, why did you leave me?". He anticipates misfortune and, of course, his misfortune is DEICIDE!

Very strong work
... At sunset and forever .. A slightly strange, but promising title. Immediately causes associations with Cradle Of Filth, vampires, the movie "From Dusk Till Dawn", etc. In fact, it is a very strong work in which the ideas of the Swedish melodic death are so developed that the language refuses to call it another copy of the genres of the genre. The album is the quintessence of the best moments from the first two. It's somewhere in between the more melodic Children Of Bodom and = Slaughter Of The Soul = '95 of my favorite At The Gates. From the first taken melodic, from the second - speed and plague drive. Much more interesting than In Flames, somewhere on the level = The Mind's I = '97 Dark Tranquility in complexity ... In a word, everything is taken from a piece, but nevertheless the result impresses with its monumentality and exceptional listening ability. Do not listen to grieving critics who are not able to recognize the obvious merits of the album. Better listen to the album itself - it's worth it. Especially the final song. Minus - only 35 minutes of sound, but this is the only negative.

Breakthrough work
"Human" is a breakthrough work, both in the work of the group, and in this direction as a whole. The material on this record is, perhaps, more meaningful, compared with previous works. The guys did not focus on anything specific, they thought through the whole picture of the album entirely, which is very commendable. Starting with this work, Death began to noticeably progress, thereby raising the bar, and with each following album they presented us with new and interesting things. Technique and melody of the songs have improved significantly, due to which the album has become little in common with its predecessors. In addition, the group moved to a new label Relativity, and the record gained a completely new sound. Talking about the energy that this opus carries in me, I can say that he listens in one breath, and at the same time for only 34 minutes you can feel an unreal drive, which you may not even get any of the previous three works. And the instrumental number of "Cosmic Sea" and generally plunges the listener into ecstasy, immersing it in the atmosphere of the cosmos, which carries a lot of interesting things and secrets. It's impossible not to notice that the guitarists are giving out the same excellent solos, and Steve DiGiorgio's work, as always, can only be admired. Competent and well-coordinated work of musicians in the team gave us this wonderful record. As for strong things, it's hard for me to single out any specific compositions, here they are all good. But, nevertheless, I will notice that my favorite song is "Suicide Machine", that I can not argue ... So, in 1991, Chuck pleasantly surprised us with his work, which literally put the group on a new level and became the starting line In their development. The next work "Individual Thought Patterns" will present us with more fresh ideas and innovations, but the role of "Human" in this chain is one of the most important in the development of the group.

New era in it's history DM
The album in which appearance is not believed even by the participants of the legendary band, eventually appeared on the same bill and marked the beginning of a new era in its history. While most fans of Depeche Mode and today called Violator and Songs Of Faith And Devotion most significant work of the collective, Ultra, by and large, it gives the plates in only one. This disc was released afterwards. Ultra went on sale in 1995. Music group again has undergone major changes. Even the composition of Depeche Mode was not the same.
After Songs Of Faith And Devotion Depeche Mode have followed the grueling tour, and the band had difficulty finding their disciplinary and creative nature for him. Dave Gahan continued to settle on drugs and several times found himself on the verge of death. In this state, the vocalist was clearly not up to the musical affairs, and plans for the dissolution of Depeche Mode took on in his head more precise contours. In addition, the quartet became a trio when the group left Alan Wilder, who, perhaps, was not so noticeable on the stage, but it was an authority in the studio. Alan just could not believe that the team is able to continue to work as efficiently and effectively. In fact, in the ranks of Depeche Mode was only one man who refused to give up. Martin Gore fact alone convinced Andy Fletcher and David Gahan try to write something new.

Classic!
Classic! One of the first albums of the nascent style then called "grindcore". However, here grindcore like this, but there is a mad and furious punk overclocked to speeds (though not very punk pulls :)) flavored lyrics protesting against everyone and everything on this earth (though mostly against all state systems) and shouts, roars and screams of vocalist Lee Dorian, more like cries of the patient on the head of the Nerds, imagines himself a dog, and sitting in a cramped cell of a mental hospital :) also, another feature of this drive from other metals (and not only) releases It is the time duration and number of songs: 28 compositions for which duration 1-1.5 minutes - limit, the remaining range from 5 to 40 seconds. Recording Quality - tolerant, especially when you consider that: a) it is the beginning of the 80's, b) is the debut album, c) where and on what money was recorded.
From songs liked already become legendary (as part of the style) «Instinct of Survival», «The Kill», «Siege of Power», although the highlight something special does not make sense.
Verdict: listen to people who love music and sound distortion. P.S. The assessment may seem excessive, but at this album I really broke away and got high.

A terrible mess
The second album in a row legendary and unique Bolt Thrower turned out pretty good, even more than that - excellent. Bass roar of the vocalist, violent guitar riffs, combined with machine-gun fire shock is over heavy, but melodic measure, the music of "bolts". I want to say that the album is very brutal: it gently combine aggression, heaviness and melody. Throughout the album will sound short but very fast solos, which is simply impossible to forget. It is also worth noting the theme groups: war. All their songs are reduced to one: why fight? Well, that's right. It should be noted that the band's first album with the retention times of grown markedly: the quality of the recording, song structure, in the end cover. Registration plate conveys the whole atmosphere of the album: a terrible mess. Well, on to describe senseless, it is necessary to listen, listen and listen again, and admire ...
