Dark Souls has been cited as one of the best video games of all time, with critics and gamers alike praising the depth of the combat, intricate storytelling and design, and detailed world-building in the Souls series.


The success of Dark Souls soon spawned two sequels, Dark Souls II released in 2014 (and Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin in 2015), and Dark Souls III released in 2016.
