by Matthias Mader (20.01.2006) For three records now I have followed the story of the Osnabrück, Germany based band Morgentot. Like hardly any other band, they managed to permanently progress. I don't think there is any other punk band that is as gloomy as Morgentot, yet the morbid melancholy in songs, like “Dein Krieg“ or “Winter“ never drowns the heaviness: Morgentot are far from drifting into gothic regions. You see it is very difficult to put the mixture of “Zeit ist Gift“ into words, the only comparison I find is still Die Skeptiker (initially massively inspired by the Dead Kennedys themselves). Still, the progression on the new album is unmistakable, especially concerning two aspects: firstly, the metal elements in compositions, like “Nur ein Moment“, has become much more massive in comparison to the two predecessors, secondly the production is much better, very powerful and clear which definitely has helped the case making this album so great.
