Successful mixture from Progressive-like Hardrock Γ‘ la Rush, nervous New-Wave reminiscences, classic Metal-aggressiveness and clischΓ©-free Gothic atmosphere. A self-assured, never predictable work of the Finnish trio.

    Funerals And Parties

by Oliver Kube (12.03.2008) The city of Harjavalta in the Southwest of Finland has only 7500 inhabitants. Three sons of the town, singer/guitarist Malja, Bass player Nordberg and drummer Heikkonen already go out with their fourth release. Prog-Rock-like elements that could be inspired by constant consume of early Rush records ("Not your son") can be found as like as clear reminiscences to the nervousness of the New-Wave-era ("Miami vicer"), classic Metal-aggression ("Paranoid") and anthemnic, and yet, completely ClichΓ©-free Gothic atmospheres ("Funerals and parties"). The trio likes to combine such elements, too, e.g. in the quite heavy but at the same time melancholic as well as later threatingly gloomy title song. This song also serves as a perfect listening tip for an album that is never calculable or even boring. Malja's voice has another share in that – perfectly fitting the powerful sound but never dominating it or drowning in it. An impressive appearance.
