by Ralf Koch (15.09.2008) On their fifth album "X to the power of ten", Lanfear present us with Power Metal de luxe, starting with the first Note of the opening track "Enter dytopia", and time and again shimmering through the total 50 minutes of this CD. Every Metal fan who is not too callous should love this power package. The interested Proggie also gets his fill in case he’s open-minded enough: hidden details, sharp breaks, soli, tricky drumming - but all those do always support the song and are never too intricate. Also, the keyboard is used rather sparsely, it is more of an atmospheric accent - another hint that the band is leaning towards Power Metal. New singer Nuno Miguel Fernandes completes the sound aptly with his versatile and powerful voice. Hats off - that’s top quality on an international level. Let’s just hope that their label quest has finally come to an end with their new partner Locomotive…
