"Weapons of mass seduction" LP by Lord Of The Lost
Article description
'Exactly one year after the successful Album Blood & Glitter (#1 on the Official German Album Charts), LORD OF THE LOST release the band's first cover Album in history: Weapons Of Mass Seduction will be released on December 29, 2023. The tracklist itself symbolizes their creative spirit and presents an exclusive selection of internationally famous, crossgenerational hits, which LORD OF THE LOST transform into something unique in just under 50 minutes.
Weapons Of Mass Seduction caps off the band's most successful year to date. After JUDAS reached second place on the German Album Charts in 2021, the band from Hamburg reached the top for the first time with Blood & Glitter. This was followed by their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, once again supporting the legendary Iron Maiden on their tour, as well as numerous sold-out headlining performances. The international media interest persisted beyond the ESC. Shows on the main stages of the largest European festivals, such as Wacken Open Air and Hellfest, are further highlights of an intense year. Weapons Of Mass Seduction concludes 2023 as a homage to some of the most successful tracks in music history.
The cover version of Billy Idol's 'Shock To The System' sets the stage for a selection of songs from different decades and genres, each infused with LORD OF THE LOST's own style and character. Although the artists couldn't be more different, Weapons Of Mass Seduction is a coherent work of art that embraces contrasts. For example, the heavy metal epic 'Turbo Lover' by Judas Priest meets modern pop songs like Sia's 'Unstoppable,' Bishop Briggs' 'River,' and Zella Day's 'High.' 'Hymn,' originally by Ultravox, Michael Jackson's legendary 'Give In To Me,' as well as the Britpop hit 'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane, showcase further facets and present themselves in the typical LORD OF THE LOST sound. Even Bronski Beat's 80s electropop hit 'Smalltown Boy' receives a makeover in LORD OF THE LOST's style, with Rocky elements and the distinctive voice of singer Chris Harms. On the 80s classic '(I Just) Died In Your Arms' by Cutting Crew, alongside Harms, singer-songwriter Anica Russo can be heard, who participated in the German ESC preliminary round 'Unser Lied fΓΌr Liverpool' together with the five musicians. The emotional cover version of 'House On A Hill' (The Pretty Reckless) concludes Weapons Of Mass Seduction but lingers on for a long time.
A special 2CD edition (available in a limited deluxe box as well as digiheighty) provides another selection of covers that LORD OF THE LOST have either already released or performed live throughout their career. This includes the Roxette cover 'The Look' feat. Blümchen, which is already known from Blood & Glitter, 'Children Of The Damned,' with which LORD OF THE LOST pays tribute to Iron Maiden and the last intense two years they have experienced together with the heavy metal giants, and the cover of the Finnish ESC song 'Cha Cha Cha' by KÀÀrijÀ - completely sung in Finnish by Chris Harms.
LORD OF THE LOST remain true to themselves and once again operate far beyond any genre boundaries. Weapons Of Mass Seduction demonstrates artistic finesse and the ability to transform songs by various male and female artists respectfully and convincingly into something completely their own.'
