by Benny Ramm (15.01.2007) "We must obey" is Fu Manchu's tenth album already. And the band from Southern California are at their very best. Already the opening title track, "We must obey", features all trademarks of the band. An ultra deep bass and roaring guitars dominate the sound. My personal favourites are "Shake it loose", a bass-driven, pushing forward groover, and "Between the lines", but also the rest of the eleven songs can absolutely convince. The album was recorded in the Grandmaster Records Studio (Hollywood) that saw recordings of e.g. Tool, Nine Inch Nails and The Black Crows. Consequently professional is the end result - for me the best album since the 1997-release "The action is go"!!! An ingenious mixture of Stoner Rock, Surf Punk and Desert Rock - this is Californian music! Now all we need is a great summer, 2007, and the joy is perfect!!!
