    Brennende Liebe - Video

Their poetic use of the German language and their smart reduction of the music to the essential are the trademarks of Oomph. With "Wunschkind" frontman Dero once tried some kind of self-therapy (the wounds of his childhood were hurting Γ¬ so badly), on "Ego" and "Plastik" he then presented his personal view of things. With their new album "Wahrheit oder Pflicht" the guys from Braunschweig again go Γ¬ their very own way to leave marks in the German Metal landscape. The often cited affinity to Rammstein has fortunately been left behind. While the Berlin pyro-rockers try to get mass-attention, Oomph are more bulky, less calculable and consequently much more authentic. "Dein Feuer", "Tausend neue LΓΌgen", "Du spielst Gott", "Nichts (ist kΓ€lter als deine Liebe)" or "Der Strom" - it's always the combination of smart lyrics and really heavy instrumentation that hit you like a hammer. Fantastic! (Matthias Mineur - 04/01)
