11.The Dreams You Dread
by Jürgen Tschamler (21.07.2008) This nice Benediction rerelease double pack ("Transcend the rubicon / The dreams you dread") completes any Death Metal aficionadoβs collection. 1993, the band surprised their fans with "Transcend the rubicon": they set aside all grind and blast attacks featured on the older albums and focused totally on brutal riffs leaning heavily towards Bolt Thrower. With this impressive output, the band was also able to get some attention by fans who were not into Death Metal. Bonus material: two live tracks: "Saneless theory" and "Deadfall". The Benediction classic "The dreams you dread" (1995) doesnβt contain any bonus tracks - but thatβs unimportant anyway, because the English provide us with some almost perfect mid-tempo Death Metal: "Soulstream", "Answer to me", "Griefgiver" or "Denial" hit you with incredible impact and force. The new singer (see other review) also made for a positive change on this album.
