With their "Glory to the brave" album, Hammerfall brought Metal back to daylight again in 1997. So, this album remains the measure for everything to follow. None of the following records could top this piece of Metal history. Also "Threshold" doesn't - but at a closer look this is probably the best album of the Swedes since their debut album. The typical trademarks of the guys around Oscar Dronjak further remain the backbone of the Hammerfall sound, yet they said goodbye to the all too fat choirs and too catchy melodies. Put in a nutshell, the material is faster, slightly rougher and more pushing. The guitar lines are a 100% banging compatible. Songs like "Reign of the hammer", "Genocide" and "Howlin'with the pac" set the galloping pace that should make every Hammerfall fan fall on his knees. The first single, "Natural high", convinces with its edgy basic riff and the superb vocal lines of Joacim Cans. A tight song for a first single. Everything remains the same, just much better!
