by Jürgen Tschamler (03.02.2009) Wizard are among the truest, most uncompromising reps of German Metal - their motto: true as steel - period. And on their eighth album so far, they consequently follow that maxim: double bass attacks, galloping riffs, epic choruses ... Thatβs traditional, genuine steel. The topic on his one: mighty Thor, as you might have already taken from the album title. The opener "Utgard" is a smasher with juicy double bass action and great guitar work - a killer! But also bone crushers such as "Midgards guardian", fast "Asgard", or the pumping neck wrecker "What would you do" will be sweetest ear candy for all True Metal maniacs. Ok, you can hear some NWOBHM influences, but the heck with it - this is pure food for your headbanging dreams! The closer "Pounding in the night" could have also been a Manowar song - in their heyday. Very majestic indeed. You expect true German Power Metal? Wizard deliver.
