    The Young & The Hopeless

Fun-Punk that doesn't hurt, that is happy (as a contradiction to the initial roots of Punk, somewhere in the frustrating backyards in Great Britain) and that should work best on all college parties and on radio and TV. Sum 41 showed us the way how to sell this sort of stuff. Prerequisites: you shouldn't be a pure Metal fan and not older than 22 years old plus do not have too high demands for quality, depths and ambitions. Matching these points, an album like "The young and the hopeless" can satisfy you a 100%. Okay, there is hope for these 4 young chaps, not only based on their fat record deal, and their social criticism is reduced to one single song, too ("Lifestyle of the rich & famous"). But be careful, guys, if everything works out the way it should be and MTV isn't sleeping you're gonna be superstars, soon. Not rich, of course, that's not provided in current record deals. But who cares for money if MTV dresses you up for all the girls in the world? (Matthias Mineur - 11/02)
