Marta JandovΓ‘ can be happy: the extensive touring of the last years has Γ¬ paid off, meanwhile, Die Happy play crowded venues everywhere they go. Musically, the band has progressed, too. The new album, "The Weight Of The Γ¬ Circumstances" may be lacking a juvenile party-track, like "Supersonic Γ¬ Speed", but it holds a busload of clever rock songs instead. Die Happy have Γ¬ matured, their songs are more rounded off, more timeless, more Γ¬ international. Of course, their stay in America (half of the album was Γ¬ produced overseas) and the collaboration with Swedish songwriters broadened Γ¬ the range of the tracks. More than ever, the songs are structured around Γ¬ Marta's voice. Based on basic rock riffs, Die Happy have produced a great, Γ¬ compact and homogenous 12-track album. Nevertheless, there is one song that has to be mentioned explicitly: "Big Boy" is really "big business", just a superb Γ¬ song! (Matthias Mineur - 06/03)
