    The Tide And Its Takers

by Jürgen Tschamler (13.06.2008) "The tide and its takers" is the fifth album of the Alaskans 36 Crazyfists who have earned themselves quite a reputation all over the world in the last years. Originally, the guys stood for peppy post-hardcore with metalcore influences, so it's quite interesting to hear some catchy choruses and melodic riffing on this new output. A superb example of how the band combines brutal riffs with a captivating chorus is "We gave it hell". In comparison to its predecessors it is striking how much heavier on the metal side this album is anyway. The eleven songs are anything but average metalcore stuff, sometines the structure is arranged a bit technical, so you have to take in the CD a few times before grasping the quality of this material. It is bizarre that 36 Crazyfists are not better known because apart from delivering modern, brutal music, they also offer originality. This CD is a must!
