by Benedikt Niederschmid (05/01) There is more to Canada than grizzlies and Bryan Adams, like the two brothers Mike and Chad Kroeger. Mike plays the bass, Chud can use his voice as a professional Rock organ. Additionally, they both have been kissed by muse and are ambitious, so they formed a band together with the guitarist Ran Peake and drummer Ryan Vikedal, and sold their soul to hard and melodic Independent-Rock. With their debut "The State", they have already entered the charts and got "gold" in the U.S.. Good references for the European tour. And if you listen to this album, you'll know why. Already the opener "Breathe" is a catchy singalong-number that soon settles in the ears. Just like the first single, "Leader of men", that after a mellow beginning soon develops into a scratchy bear paw. A great album, however, it seldomly reaches intensity of their colleagues of 3 Doors Down or Creed.
