by Lisa Hofer (07.10.2007) Elvenking could never be pigeonholed to any particular style and also the fourth album of the Italians goes that way. Somewhere between powerful, clean vocals, fierce growls, plenty of choirs, Folk melodies and playful, orchestral parts and samples, Elvenking has built their style for ten years now. All their experiences and knowledge now comes together on "The scythe". Their music is still very tight, variable and powerful, and with every new album, the Italians better manage to get their art across authentically. Each of the eleven songs has its own atmosphere and represents a unit of its own. Songs like "Infection" and "Poison tears" show the diversity of the formation and make lust for more. The guitars have become a little heavier than in the past, the vocals are very distinctive and the melodies don't run short. Ear candies are guaranteed, a happy mood, too.
