Article description

Some remember there was already a 4-year break between "Breaking the silence" and "Victims of deception", but hey, this masterpiece was worth the wait. This is Bay Area Thrash with Class: authentic, melodic and brutal; complete with killer vocals.

by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (27.01.2010) In 2009, the Thrash community was thrilled to get some new releases by Hirax and the Canadians Sacrifice, Overkill’s new album is just great, and Exodus get ready for take off with the second part of "The atrocity exhibition" after having released their DVD. But before they'll be able to make the Metal World go berserk in the mosh pit, we have a jack in a box appearance by Exodus axe man Lee Altus who presents us with the long due and often postponed third album by his first love Heathen. The result? Superb! Just like Forbidden, the Bay Area legend has a fantastic singer capable of roaring his heart out AND singing brilliantly. No wonder they stick to those short epic parts they already had in their vintage Eighties stuff - they spice up this hefty Thrash dish even more. "A heroes welcome" combines Thin Lizzy roots with Metallica's "Fade to black". "The evolution of chaos" is "Ride the lightning" of the new millenium: bristling with energy, crisp, highly melodic and yet tough as nails.
