by Matthias Mader (10.07.2008) Well, Beneath The Sky wonβt draw the curtain over or even kill the world of music, but "The day the music died" is a notable deadly weapon indeed. The drastic intro (done like one of these radio plays) "Nature of the beast" opens the door to a Zombie flick transferred to the metal world, reminding you of the heyday of Necrophagia, Macabre and Obituary. Songs like "True friends stab you in the front" or "With a gunsmoke kiss" do not just rumble around, but are intricately structured - deep growls and mean shrieking alternate, and the occasional melodious part is strewn in to relax the excited listener. The climax - a two-part song: "Respect for the dead" starts with an acoustic guitar twiddling (think Scorpions here), and then, "Another day" wreaks havoc to your ears. Lyrics and cover artwork prove that Beneath The Sky actually do have some sense of humour which makes "The day the music died" all the more charming.
