by Matthias Mader (19.09.2007) Wow, with their fourth album, "The cold heart of the sun", Maroon finally close up to the German Metalcore top (that is Caliban), and also internationally, these guys are absolutely Champions League. From the gloomy, morbid cover to the ultra-brutal production, here is everything right. Already the opener, "(Reach) The sun", is a prototype for the whole album with its hell-like pace, interrupted only by short, melodic breaks (including part music guitar leads), and… even faster blastbeat passages. Despite their liking for extremes, Maroon are always in control of themselves – the song material is surprisingly organic, well structured and perfectly arranged. One things leads to another, even the changing of the gears takes place without problems. A more than sovereign performance with which Maroon will gain a lot of new friends.
