by Marcel Anders (04.04.2007) Travis took a complete four years to work on the successor for "12 Memories". The fifth album offers Travis in purity: eleven anthemnic Guitar Pop songs with big melodies, many spherical goose flesh feelings and catchy refrains that instantly set in your ears. This time, Travis not only relied on star-producer Nigel Godrich (Air, Radiohead) but also got sonic artist Brian Eno, Indie-icon KT Tunstall and actor Ben Stiller on board. And in all claim they meet, all sovereignty and maturity, they never neglect the fun element. E.g., when in "Selfish Jean" they smartly cite Iggy Pop's "Lust for life", in "Battleships" they bring in a sky full of violins and in "Eyes wide open" they drown in the psychedelic Beatles. That they deal with baby impressions and the Africa problems is worth mentioning, too. The most important thing, however, is the warmth this album radiates. In this, Travis is unbeatable.
