by Markus Eck (03/10) On their 2001 work show, "Darkness And Hope", the Portugueses were still a bit Γ¬ more restrained - an impression that is completely wiped out by the new album. A Γ¬ powerful heaviness, reanimated dynamic, hot, furious enthusiasm and determined Γ¬ compositions dominate the new tracks of "Antidote". Especially singer Fernando Γ¬ Ribeiro seemed to know intuitively how he had to approach the new songs with Γ¬ charismatic fervour to reach this high level of effectiveness. His passionate Γ¬ voice self consciously takes the cake - and is consequently the main reason for Γ¬ the musical fascination spread by Moonspell. Gloomy atmosphere, morbid romantics Γ¬ and some latent aggression are again balanced on the new album. The high Γ¬ melodious catchiness of their early days for which the band used to be known and Γ¬ famous seems gone for ever now. Too versatile are the new tracks: intensive, Γ¬ searching songs full of punishing tragic - for curious and insistent adventurers Γ¬ of dark passions. (Markus Eck - 03/10)
