Autopsy was founded in San Francisco in 1987 and released 4 Albums on Peaceville Records before disbanding in 1995 and forming Abscess. The band features the legendary drummer Chris Reifert, who began his career with US metal giants Death before taking on the unusual task of drums and vocals for Autopsy. Autopsy has influenced an entire generation of extreme metal bands, from Entombed and Dismember to Darkthrone. Severed Survival is rightfully celebrated as one of the best releases in death metal. A completely corrupted and uncompromising sound - dirty, muddy death & doom metal mixed with repulsive stories of death and disease - was originally released in April 1989.
