Article description

Comes as a Limited Edition on colored Vinyl (white/brown).

The Liverpool doom prophets Anathema first emerged in the early 90s and released their debut album 'Serenades' in 1993. The original vocalist, Daz White, said at the time, 'Anathema is not just another Heavy Metal band, but a presence and a force in every living mind.' These were big words from one of the original poets of the scene. They did not disappoint, as the album was celebrated from all sides. The British Metal Hammer named it album of the month, and with the release of the music video for 'Sweet Tears' from the album, it didn't take long for Headbanger's Ball to take notice and air the video weekly. This culminated in a live interview and a Peaceville/Headbanger's Ball live spectacle at Rock City in Nottingham with labelmates My Dying Bride and At The Gates. 'Serenades' managed to blend fragile dreams with furious, aggressive frustration to stunning effect and marked the beginning of one of the best live metal bands in the scene. Even at such an early stage in their career, it was obvious to anyone with an ear to the pulse of the time how special Anathema could be.
