by Andreas Reissnauer (13.04.2006) For 15 years now, the Norwegians have been around always delivering high quality work. Highlight so far was βIsaβ, released two years ago and which provided Enslaved with numerous awards and prizes. The new album, βRuunβ sets forth where βIsaβ left off and enchants with intelligent, epic, and both aggressive and melodic songs. There is no doubt, over the years, the band has managed to create their very own style that identifies them from hundreds of bands. The sometimes melancholic, sometimes aggressive atmosphere in combination with black metal and some slight 70s rock influences is the unique basis for great, demanding and oft extended songs. Best example is, e.g. the great title song as well as the succeeding βTides of chaosβ featuring all of Enslaved's trademarksand convince from the first top the last second. I don't know any other band that manages to compose so well flowing, great songs. God-like!
