by Peter Kupfer (28.09.2010) Power Metal combined with Folk is like a tradition in Italy. Elvenking have been an active part of this scene and started their career back in 1997. “Red Silent Tides“ demonstrates that they're back with their well-known 80s-based Metal sound. Songs like the opener "Dawnmelting” and “The nightmare will never end” are the best proof for this statement. Nevertheless, they have more to offer than many of the music lovers think. Fast driving songs like “Your heroes are dead” have less to do with Folk in general. This shows a distinctively matured band which is working more courageously and more variedly than ever before. However, they have not forgotten their roots. The record combines catchy harmonies and melodies that fit perfectly to the great voice of Damnagoras. He shows an incredible vocal performance throughout the whole album. The new album shows where this band stands today. “Red Silent Tides” is a journey full of poetry, melancholy and bitter sweetness, but without any kind of lethargy or tackiness. It’s poetry that rocks!
