The debut album by the Ramones has its anniversary this year and it is for sure one of the most important and influential albums of all time, as the Rolling Stone (US) said. The masterpiece is only 29 minutes long and it started the whole punk rock scene in the US and the UK. It inspired countless artists in the following generations until today. In order to honour this influence, Rhino created the ultimate tribute to the album. It comes with a 30x30 cm hard cover book. The 3CD/1 vinyl box is limited to 19,760 (for the year 1976) pieces, which are numbered individually. It also contains a remastered and optimised stereo version and a mono mix of the album. Additionally, many rarities are included such as unreleased demos and an unreleased live show. All of this was mastered and mixed by Craig Leon, the original producer of the album. Beside the music, it comes with extensive notes by Leon about the production of the original album, an essay by rock journalist Mitchell Cohen about the early days of the RAMONES and additional photos by Roberta Bayley, whose legendary band photo is on the album cover.
CD 1 contains the newly mastered stereo version and the mono mix.
CD 2 contains single mixes, outtakes, and demos. Some of these recordings have never been released. Among them the demos of I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend, 53rd, and 3rd and Loudmouth.
CD 3 contains two complete live concerts at The Roxy in West Hollywood from August 12th, 1976. The first set of the evening has already been released; however, the second set is now being released for the first time!
The whole set is now completed by a vinyl LP with the new mono mix of The Ramones.
