The Dutch Gothic Metal-quintet, Imperia could already convince with their great debut album, "The ancient dance of quetesh" but with their new masterpiece, "Queen of light", they outlived themselves. Goose flesh is guaranteed, not at least by the enchanting voice of Helena Michaelsen, who in the past already caused some stir with her solo-project, Angel, as well as on the early Trail Of Tears records. Her powerful voice refines each of the 13 songs on "Queen of light" for a precious jewel. The tracks are enormously powerful and bombastic, always provided with orchestral arrangements adding a very majestic feeling to the end result. Everything is very lively and you are soon infected by the fire in the band. Musically, you are often reminded of their country fellows, After Forever and Epica. Each song is a hitter and it should be very surprising if Imperia wouldn't climb the top of the Gothic-Olympus with this album!
