Laney orientates itself to the big Rock-hooklines, who wrote history in the eighties, and write such great songs themselves, they would easily fit into the concept of bands like Def Leppard.

by Ralf Koch (20.04.2009) His name has been mentioned in the small print long enough - about time for Chris Laney to put the bushel in the closet and let his light shine! Has has proven his versaile qualities often enough as songwriter and producer for (among others) Candlemass and Bruce Kulick, and also as guitar player with Randy Piper’s Animal and Zan Clan. "Pure" is his first solo album released by Melodic-/Hardrock label Metal Heaven - a perfect match. Laney sails along those great hook lines of the 80s and steers clear of the rougher stuff his former bands delivered. He knows that he's capable of writing pretty good songs which would even fit the likes of Def Leppard (just check out "Get U Down"!). Laney recorded every instrument, just bass and drums were done by guest musicians, and guest vocalists like Mats LevΓ©n and Zinny Zan (although Laney's voice is also quite impressive) as well as some guitar solists add some extra zest to the thing. Not very original - but nevertheless quite good!
