by Matthias Mineur (null) We have all been waiting in anticipation. The release was post-poned over and over again, but now, finally, here it is: the new Savatage album "Poets and madmen". And what am I supposed to say? It is great! (Did we expect anything different?) With a pulsing atmosphere, brilliant songs and a first-class production. Without the two split members Zachary Stevens (vocals) and Al Pitrelli (lead-guitar) Savatage present compositions on highest level. The orientation is introduced by "The wake of Magellan" away from the too-keyboard-dominated arrangements like on "Dead winter dead" Heavy guitar parts, slim arrangements and Power Metal foundations dominate the album. A milestone!
