by Sonja Angerer (12/00) "Donots", as you might guess, comes from "Do Not". But it would have been a pity if this woken up fieve-piece band from Germany would have not done it, meaning producing this album together with Fabian Trentini. "I want you to get up now out of your chairs" is what is said in the very beginning of the record, right before the Donots crush in with "I quit" - and if you haven't got up soon enough, you are blasted against the wall with your chair. Yet, this track with its Beach Boys-like multi-choir is extremely catchy. Released in advance was "Whatever Happend To The 80s ...?", even if this track that settles up with the decade of the older brothers and sisters is not quite the strongest track. "Today" with the schmaltzy U2-guitar, the witty Punk-Vocals and the irresistible refrain is at least as good. But generally it appears that this album has no weak track on it - nowadays a pleasant exception that should be rewarded with the immediate order of this album!
