by Matthias Mineur (11.01.2007) Of course and despite Bruce Dickinson, Paul Dianno is still unforgotten. His contributions for the early releases of the NWOBHM-legend Iron Maiden wrote history and made this man immortal, regardless of his further career. With "The classics: The Maiden years" he now revisits his Maiden past and begins with the classic of all time: "Wrathchild". All songs come from the first two Maiden albums, "Iron Maiden" (1980) and "Killers" (1981) featuring legendary hits like "Running free", "Iron Maiden" and "Sanctuary" still regularly played by the current Maiden line up, too. Fortunately, Dianno also reanimates lesser known songs on "The classics: The Maiden years", such as "Phantom of the opera" and "Strange world", in such an impressive way that you can't take this effort for granted whatever the real reasons are. I only wonder if Steve Harris nonetheless grudges in his still chamber.
