Article description

On "Armamentarium" Neaera had exchanged their Metalcore elements for intensive Death Metal. "Omnicide - Creation unleashed" even goes one step further towards Death Metal reactivating at the same time the raw HC flair. Exciting!

by Björn Thorsten Jaschinski (29.04.2009) "Armamentarium" started Γ  la Bolt Thrower: an unbelievable juggernaut crushing everything beneath it. To find something comparable on this album, you'll have to wait a bit - until "The wretched of the earth", that is. This output starts like a technical Death Metal opus - "I loathe" is hectic, even a bit confused at he beginning - the same goes for "Caesura". Benny nourishes this aggression, transferring it to the chorus of "Prey to anguish" with his mean Black Metal shrieks (that song will be an awesome live smasher!). "Grave new world" is blacker than Black Metal (even as far as the instrumentation is concerned), and the title track is some kind of a hybrid. "Age of hunger" gives you some grooves and a modern touch, with a melody passage you'd find on Amon Amarth releases, turning into a cool Hardcore part. The change between hearty growls and nerve-wrecking screams never comes across as artificial - which sets the band apart from many of their competitors.
