by Andreas Reissnauer (04/01) After the end of Pantera the brothers Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell do the only right thing and bring a new band to life. But "New found power" is no quick shot! Of course, many things remind me of Pantera here - the guitars and the drums are just unmistakeable. But Damageplan go one step further and not only for heavy rhythms. The musical diversity is closest to the Texan masterpiece "Cowboys from hell". Especially the melodic songs such as "Crawl" or "Soul bleed" - perfectly sung by the new singer Pat Lachman - make this album really spicy. evertheless, you don't have to do without aggressive riff monsters either. "Wake up", "Breathing new life" or "Fuck you" are songs that could have been on every Pantera-album, too. A great new start!
