by Marcel Anders (null) For ten years, they lived an underground live, have always been the support slot and released three record with an average mixture of Rap, Funk and Metal. Until last summer they released the single, "Drive", a power ballad hymn in best Pearl Jam/Nirvana/Soundgarden-manner, providing a surprising hit for the quintet culminating in platinum for the '99 album "Make Yourself". The American showbiz fairytale. And of course, Incubus go on that road consistently. Their fourth album, "Morning View" throws all former roots over board and instead settles in best known but still successful Alternative-regions. Just grippy rock songs, souldful ballads and here and there full speed. Like in the single, "Wish You Were Here", which however is not one of the strongest tracks of this great record. Because Incubus are best when they wildly experiment - with strings, Digeridoos or a frogs' choir. No joke: in "Aqueous Transmission" you'll hear it!
