In this case, it is a destroyed Statue of Liberty and some burnt down oil platforms in the background sending off black, billowing smoke into a dark sky... So much for modern Metalcore bands being not politically interested. These four very young men from Pennsylvania present us with the ultimate soundtrack for the apocalypse: "Monuments". Be it "No horizons", "Two wars", or "Geist", This Or The Apocalypse tear down walls, and turn monuments of suppression into ashes with their steamrollering sound collages: it is destruction time. The ten songs are more or less drenched in blackness - this is pure musical nihilism. One or the other tentative beginning of a Rock groove or some rare melodious interlude make for some desperately needed light in this threatening atmosphere. "Monuments" is an extremely upsetting and devastatingly brutal album - nothing for the weak and wimpyβ¦
