by Jürgen Tschamler (10.04.2006) The brute trio appears back on the scene with a new drummer delivering “Milgrim“ now. A heavy monster with fattest grooves, fattest riffs and fattest power. While the predecessors rather served the doom genre, the new eleven tracks are powerful but also faster. You could bring in some Pro Pain comparison here and there, just listen to “Hateriot“ or “Crawler“. “Homemade funeral“ at the same time is the classic Undertow sound. A tough bastard of deeply haunting doom riffs and angry vocals. The very slowly “Always have always will“ also stands for typical Undertow power. Still, the uptempo tracks of the album can clearly be filed under >riff kills neck muscles< and have a lot of energy. Nevertheless, the album is also confusing: yes, they can present a fine acoustic track, too, such as “This is the worst day ... since yesterday“, but immediately afterwards they hit you right between the eyes with the deadbringing “D-Mood“ - what a heavy constellation. But it's exactly this unpredictable element that makes this album so great.
