As soon as the Sex Pistols including Johnny Rotten and the other punk companions had turned the world of music and media upside down in 1976/77, it was all over again. From then on - sometime in 1978 - the music journos started to collectively label all kinds of acts as Post-Punk. Ironically Johnny Rotton himself was amongst the scene's protagonists - with his real name Jon Lydon and his new band Public Image Ltd.

In 1978, the band had set new standards with their debut album. One year later, the band released "Metal box", the most exciting album in terms of music and visual aspects: 3 Vinyl maxis in a tin can (the later released "Second edtion" was a plain and simple reissue of the double lp) with flickering guitars, hypnotic bass lines (Jah Wobble!), sound experiments, Electronic and Dub, ryhtems reminding on Can and NEU! and Lydon's disturbing voice. To mark the 30th (!) anniversay the album comes as an adequate cd-release - digitally remastered for the first time: 3 maxi-cds in a metal box which resembles the original vinyl.
