    Variations Chromatiques

by Markus Wosgien (10.04.2008) Dirty riffs, low-tuned Doom-guitars and a hell-like groove: this is Mustasch. In their Swedish home they were awarded with a Grammy last year and with their current album "Latest version of the truth" they are just about to become gold-status. "Lowlife highlights" now is an 18 Song Best-Of compilation of the EMI-years, consisting of the first three records, "Above all", "Ratsafari", "Powerhouse", as well as the debut EP, "The true sound of the new west". The list of songs covers all you could wish for and so, one Rock hymn is chased by the other, of course, including the hit-singles, "I hunt alone", "Down in black", "Black city", "6:36" and "Dogwash", as well as hitters, like the driving forward "I lied" and the slow "White magic". Mustasch do such a good and convincing job that on is electrified from the first second on. If the band around singer and guitarist Ralf Gyllenhammar is still new to you, you should order this album blindly for this is current Rock history!
