EMP Editorial Team

No matter what these guys do they always do it right. Their two records "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" were the icing on the Nu Metal cake, their remix-epic a lesson in terms of studio possibilities and their DVD "Frat Party At The Pancake Festival" a little masterpiece. Now the six Californians come up with the only thing that had been so far: a classic live-album. And as you might have guessed - this is perfect too. Recorded during the "Summer Sanatarium Tour" (with Metallica and Limp Bizkit) "Live In Texas" features no less than 12 songs resembling a representative cross section of their career so far. Hits like "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Numb", "Crawling" or "In The End" enriched by many album cuts that haven't yet been put on high rotation. And what a top range band Mike Shinoda & Co have become by now. Simply because they don't even try to copy their studio versions 1:1 but present the songs in versions that contain either a lot of improvisation or an extra portion of dynamics. That makes this album double as valuable - not only for fans. (Marcel Anders - 04/01)
