An ingenious live recording of the last year's European tour presenting the Peppers on their personal high. The lads Kiedis, Flea, Frusciante and Smith at the end of their 30s are as relaxed and fresh as never before in their long, eventful career. Because they have never been better performers and have never had a live set packed with more hits that made it so easy to fill a 90-minute live-set. And that's exactly what the four did on this 23rd August in Dublin: with 18 tracks, predominantly from their last three albums "By The Way", "Californication" and "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" and earcandy such as "Scar Tissue", "Otherside", "Give It Away" or "Under The Bridge" as well as some nice cover versions such as "Havana Affair" (Ramones) or "Right On Time" (The Clash). A tribute to good old friends they lost in the last years while the Chili Peppers saw the heydays of their career. "Live At Slane Castle" is the document of a wonderful concert night - and of a band that promises a lot more to come. (Marcel Anders - 04/01)
