by Manuela Liefländer (04/01) It wouldn't be too much to say that we've all fallen in love with Puddle Of Mudd's debut album. With its catchy rock songs and the honest lyrics the band put a spell on everybody. Four hits came of that album "Come Clean" and the ballad "Blurry" even got the ASCAP Award for the most airplays. Now they are back with the long awaited successor album. Already the first track, "Away from me" - also the first single - presents POM's rocky side. Although singer Wesley Scantlin said the new songs would be heavier, I can't quite agree though they are a bit more authentic. 13 times Wes deals with the topic love and vocally often reminds me of Layne Staley of Alice In Chains. In terms of music there are some Grunge elements as well in Puddle Of Mudd's version of modern rock. Nevertheless, they stylistically stuck to their roots. (Manuela LieflΓ€nder - 04/01)
